Davis Warren Struggles For Michigan In First Half Against Arkansas State

Davis Warren Struggles in First Half for Michigan Against Arkansas State

Wolverines' Offense Sputters

Michigan's highly anticipated offense stumbled in the first half against Arkansas State, with quarterback Davis Warren struggling to find his rhythm. The sophomore signal-caller completed just 4 of 10 passes for 40 yards, and was sacked twice. Warren also made some poor decisions, including an interception that led to an Arkansas State touchdown.

The Wolverines' running game was equally ineffective, with Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards combining for just 42 yards on 12 carries. Michigan's offensive line, which was expected to be a strength this season, was consistently pushed around by the Arkansas State defense.

Defense Keeps Michigan in Game

Despite the offensive struggles, Michigan's defense kept the Wolverines in the game. The unit forced three Arkansas State punts and intercepted James Blackman twice. Junior linebacker Junior Colson led the way with eight tackles, while senior safety Rod Moore had two interceptions.

Second Half Adjustments Needed

Michigan needs to make some ajustes at halftime if they want to avoid an upset. The offense needs to find a way to move the ball more effectively, and Warren needs to play better. The defense, meanwhile, needs to continue to play well and force turnovers.

Keys to the Second Half:

  • Michigan's offense needs to find a way to establish a running game. Corum and Edwards are both talented backs, but they need to get more involved in the offense.
  • Warren needs to play better. The sophomore quarterback needs to make better decisions and throw the ball more accurately.
  • The defense needs to continue to play well. The unit needs to force turnovers and get off the field on third down.
